From NJ.com:
State legislators would get the chance to veto the toll increases proposed for the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway under a plan announced yesterday by Republican lawmakers.
But Democrats were cool to the idea, and warned the GOP against playing politics with transportation funding.
Sen. Thomas Kean Jr. (R-Union), the Senate minority leader, and Sen. Leonard Lance (R-Hunterdon) said the state Constitution authorizes the Legislature to veto the actions of independent authorities such as the Turnpike Authority if those actions are “inconsistent with legislative intent.”
