Citing a criminal investigation by the attorney general, Senate Republican leaders Tuesday urged the Democrat-controlled House to approve government reform bills they say would help restore confidence in state government.
The criminal charges filed in July against 12 people with ties to the House Democratic Caucus make it imperative that the General Assembly act on measures to ban bonuses and curb conflicts of interest, the GOP senators said.
The alleged scheme by House Democrats involved a political operation from the Capitol, including bonuses for staffers who worked on campaigns.
