In Minnesota DFL State Representative Matt Entenza abruptly ended his bid for attorney
general in that state after coming under withering criticism
over his honesty with the MN press corps. Entenza was the endorsed candidate
for the DFL in the September primary, and now they have to scramble to find a
credible candidate who can say they truly think they’re the best ones for
the job. GOP AG candidate Jeff
Johnson has solidified frontrunner status in this race now.
In Florida, Republican primary AG candidate Joe Negron shocked many political
observers when he ended his campaign
citing his primary opponent’s, former U.S. Congressman Bill McCollum,
success in polling and fundraising. Great news for McCollum has he can
now focus his nearly $1 million on his general election opponent, State Senator
Skip Campbell, and not
worry about a bruising September 5th GOP primary.
To summarize – Democrats lose their strongest candidate – a
millionaire who was going to self fund, and Republicans wrap up their primary a
month a half early setting the stage for the General Election much earlier than
anticipated.
