Matt Entenza scampers out of the AGs race in classic political form – never truly acknowledging why he was getting out of the race. It’s always, family, those we love, and the people of state x. It’s never, “Well, you guys kept catching me in lies, and I realized that I now have zero chance of running and now must try to salvage what I can for a future run for some other office at which time I hope that all of the voters have collective amnesia and forget about all of this” (hey, it worked for this guy, so why not?). That’s his reality, and that’s fine.
That being said, all of a sudden there are now 5 candidates who feel like they’re top tier, nominee material – guess that were afraid of a tough race against Entenza – ah the courage of convictions. Anyhoo – it’s a nice mix of DFL has beens hope to be’s. They’re all stellar Dem primary candidates, but no standout save for Bill Luther – but this is clearly not his first passion – otherwise he would've jumped in before. At any rate – keep an eye on this state if you can – the dynamics of this Dem contest will be very interesting. The person who comes ahead of all of this, regardless of the DFL endorsement/primary process is GOP AG candidate Jeff Johnson.
