From Dispatch Politics:
Calling payday lenders’ tactics greedy, their campaign deceptive, and their existence harmful to Ohio’s economy, three former Ohio attorneys general and two aspiring ones are urging Ohioans to give a swift kick to the lenders by voting “yes” on state Issue 5.
Standing side by side yesterday at a Downtown news conference, Republican Mike Crites and Democrat Richard Cordray, who are vying to become Ohio’s next attorney general, agreed on the need to rein in the industry.
“These lenders are more concerned about lining their pockets than they are about protecting the consumer’s interest,” Crites said. “When we have all sorts of economic problems in this state, this is the last thing we need.”
