From the Chatanoogan:
Rep. Jason Mumpower told the Chattanooga Pachyderm Club on Monday that Republicans are close to getting a “constitutional majority” of combined party members in the state Senate and House.
If the GOP can do so, he said that will mean Republican leaders will choose the state secretary of state, treasurer and comptroller.
He also said it would allow the GOP, rather than the Democrats, to name the majority members to all the county election commissions.
