Campaign reports filed Wednesday show that Pinnacle Entertainment has contributed just under $7 million and Ameristar has donated almost $4.4 million in support of Proposition A. Ameristar operates casinos in St. Charles and Kansas City. Pinnacle has two casinos in downtown St. Louis and one under construction in south St. Louis County.

The donations dwarfed those collected by the state’s candidates on the Nov. 4 ballot, despite the elimination in late August of the state’s campaign donation limits.

The Democratic candidate for governor, Attorney General Jay Nixon, reported two large donations during the three-month period ending Sept. 30: $1 million from the Democratic Governor’s Association and $500,000 from the labor union AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees).
