From SeattlePI:
While serving as Pierce County executive, state attorney general candidate John Ladenburg accepted campaign contributions from people connected to a landfill, most of it as the county was preparing to extend that contract.
Ladenburg, a Democrat, denies wrongdoing in accepting the donations totaling more than $18,000. He told the Seattle P-I that there was no connection between the contributions and his actions on the landfill, which the Republican-majority council approved 7-0.
“If there was anything shifty or sneaky here, I think the Republicans on the County Council would have caught up with it,” he said.
Ummmm… probably not since the only Rep. candidate from the council running for Exec.has the Lemay financial controller as his campaign treasurer. Like many areas of WA. Pierce “dynastys” have big bucks and big voices in this election, both in our local and state arenas.
This landfill contract was poorly written and over SIGNIFICANT citizen and community outcry was pushed through fast and with very poor review.. its becoming pretty clear why.
I hope McKenna and Sonntag will both put this one under the microscope…..it stinks higher than the usual Tacoma Aroma!.
