The Maine Democratic Party had a tough go of it at Monday’s state ethics commission hearing, where the party was fined $5,000 and rebuffed on three unrelated complaints it levied against opposing candidates and Republican party officials.
At one point, commission chairman Michael Friedman asked officials from the two major parties if they ever considered using a telephone to resolve their differences instead of filing complaints.
