Day After – RSLC Remains Strong in 2008 Elections

ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Republican State Leadership Committee (RSLC) today announced resounding success in the 2008 elections.  Participating in election efforts across the country in a hammering political environment, the RSLC maintained the number of Republican Attorneys General at 19, including wins in blue Pennsylvania and Washington State, and picked up majorities in four legislative chambers.

“The RSLC continues to demonstrate success in promoting strong, common sense leaders to down-ticket offices even in difficult political environments,” said RSLC President Scott Ward.  “Regardless of the national political environment, we are able to put an ‘R’ in the victory column across the nation by supporting outstanding candidates offering real solutions and real results.  The Democrats made a huge play for North Dakota and South Dakota, and we were able to keep the Republican majorities.”

“Today’s state and local leaders are tomorrow’s future, and we work vigorously to elect those who reflect the ideas and principles of the American people,” added Ward.  “While we would like to have had even more victories, there is a silver lining in the results and we will continue to build on these efforts in the coming year.”

From building a Republican majority of state attorneys general to defending and expanding the Republican majority of state legislatures, and increasing the number of lieutenant governors and secretaries of state, the RSLC makes a national impact one state at a time.

The RSLC has over 70,000 donors from all 50 states supporting the RSLC’s goals to pursue a pro-growth agenda, including: reforming the tax code, healthcare and legal systems; promoting a better educational system; and advocating public safety through tough, crime-fighting policies.
