From MacroWorld Investor:
Republican Attorney General Tom Corbett of Shaler by early morning Wednesday was the last statewide GOP candidate standing against the Democratic tidal wave.
Despite the Democratic sweep across Pennsylvania, Corbett won a second term as the state’s chief law enforcement officer, receiving 2,938,420 votes in unofficial returns and positioning himself, some analysts say, for a possible gubernatorial bid in 2010.
After trailing most of election night, Corbett logged big numbers in Western and Central Pennsylvania. Surprisingly, he held virtually even with Democrat John Morganelli, the Northampton County district attorney, in Montgomery County and beat Morganelli in Bucks County. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Corbett had 52.4 percent of the vote to Morganelli’s 45.7 percent.
