From The Spectrum:
ST. GEORGE – Rep. Dave Clark, a Zions Bank executive from Santa Clara, became the first legislator from Southern Utah in 73 years to be voted in as House Speaker Tuesday.
During a meeting of the Republican Caucus in Salt Lake City, Clark was the unopposed favorite to replace former Speaker Greg Curtis, who was defeated by Democrat Jay Seegmiller in last week’s election.
Last week, Clark was re-elected as Dist. 74’s representative with 73 percent of the vote after eight years in the state House, including the last two as Majority Leader.
