“We didn’t get any Republicans elected,” McKinney said of statewide offices. “I’m very disappointed that John McCain’s winning by 12 percent in the state didn’t translate to victories down the ballot. Our candidates all worked harder than anybody has ever worked at those positions.
“But we did come close in some instances,” he added. “It shows with a little more effort, we can do it next time.”
McKinney believes the state GOP in 2008 fielded the strongest slate it ever had.
