In the short term, the Republican takeover of the Tennessee General Assembly probably will have only incidental impact on the state’s established pro-business environment.

In the long term, the GOP gains could be significant by providing a stable climate that is hostile toward legislation business interests consider undesirable and, eventually could expand tax incentives and the like.

Or so says Lt. Gov. Ron Ramsey, who perhaps deserves more credit than any other individual for bringing the Legislature under solid Republican control. House Republican Leader Jason Mumpower would be runner-up for that distinction.
