From the Tulsa World:
The actual anniversary is Nov. 23, which Gov. Brad Henry has proclaimed “A Healthier Oklahoma Day” thanks in part to Edmondson’s role in negotiating the agreement.
The settlement could generate $206 billion over 25 years to the 46 states and six U.S. territories that signed onto the lawsuit in 1996.
Oklahoma’s share to date is nearly $648 million, and the state could receive $2 billion in all.
But Edmondson said the lawsuit wasn’t about money. He said it was about protecting public health, particularly the health of children.
