From Freep.com:
Attorney General Mike Cox and consumer advocates warned Tuesday against legislative plans to restructure the massive insurer Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan in the lame-duck session set to begin in two weeks.
At news conferences across lower Michigan, Cox and representatives of AARP and the Consumers Union said Blue Cross proposals pending in the Legislature would remove government oversight, increase costs for policy purchasers and deny coverage for patients with pre-existing conditions. All would be contrary to Blue Cross’ role as a state-created insurer of last resort, they said.
