From the Gainesville Sun:
Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum and Department of Elder Affairs Secretary Douglas Beach issued a consumer advisory Tuesday warning seniors and their loved ones to be wary of so-called financial planning or estate preservation seminars that lure them with a free lunch.
The Attorney General’s Office reports that it has received more than a dozen complaints from seniors who attended seminars that turned out to be high-pressure sales pitches for investments that may not be appropriate in light of the seniors’ ages and financial circumstances.
