PA: New LG Faces Election Deadline

If you haven’t met the newest Republican Lieutenant Governor, and many haven’t since he was sworn in on Wednesday, you can learn more about him here.  From the Times-Tribune:

Lt. Gov. Joseph Scarnati has until Wednesday to set a date for a special election to fill the vacant 29th District Senate seat centered in Schuylkill County.

The deadline is based on a 10-day timetable from Monday, when the seat became officially vacant. That was the first day of the term to which the late Sen. James J. Rhoades of Mahanoy City was elected posthumously by voters Nov. 4. Mr. Rhoades died in October of injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

Mr. Scarnati discussed his role in the pending special election shortly after he took the oath of office Wednesday as lieutenant governor.
