Now here’s some leadership from the states. Not bad. From AJC:
House and Senate leaders decided Monday it wouldn’t look good to take a pay raise when 100,000 state employees are going without one this year.
The Legislative Services Committee, which is made up of top House and Senate leaders, voted to defer a 3 percent raise lawmakers were due this year.
Lawmakers said they wanted to lead by example.
“We didn’t think it was the right thing to do (to take the raise) for the people of this state,” said House Speaker Glenn Richardson (R-Hiram). “We are trying to cut spending in a lot of different places.”
