With the likely upcoming vacancy of U.S. Senator Larry Craig’s seat in the near future, three current or former Republican state and local leaders, Bonneville County Prosecutor Dane Watkins, Attorney General Lawrence Wasden, and Lieutenant Governor Jim Risch, names are being floated to fill out the remaining term of the soon to be vacant U.S. Senate Seat. All three would be outstanding choices, and would bring a much needed breath of fresh air to the United States Senate.
There’s still much to happen between now and then, but stay tuned.
One thing is for certain – the U.S. Senate needs more state and local leaders in its ranks.
Getting some new faces in Congress can't always be a bad thing. And getting someone who's been interacting with Idahoans for a long time is good too. Would be a nice perspective for sure to have back east.
