From Rocky Mountain News:
“You’ve got the economic equivalent of Rome on fire, and the Democrats are spending most of their days banning chocolate chip cookies, plastic bags and cell phones in cars,” said the Grand Junction Republican.
“The opening day speeches were all about jobs, jobs, jobs, but we’re spending too much time on trivial issues.”
Democrats disagree, but political observers are mindful of what happened in the 2004 election. Democrats gained control of the legislature for the first time since 1962 by campaigning on the Republicans’ unwillingness and inability to handle a budget crisis.
