We told you about this type of thing happening all over the country last week. Add New Mexico to the list.
From the Santa Fe New Mexican:
Elected New Mexico officials have hired 24 people, including 16 new hires under Gov. Bill Richardson’s control, since a state government hiring freeze went into effect Nov. 15.
Of the 16 jobs under Richardson’s control, 10 remain as permanent positions. Other elected officials have hired eight employees.
And, the state has hired 109 classified people, since Nov. 15, the governor’s office said. Those hires include nurses, fish and game wardens, janitors, two attorneys in the Department of Health, food servers, probation and parole officers and highway workers.
