From the Pittsburgh Tribune
“If he’s convicted, it is a real blow to the Legislature,” said Jack Treadway, former chairman of the political science department at Kutztown University and author of a book on state elections. “He’s just one legislator. It’s not 253 (legislators) accused of anything, but it is the enormity of the charges.
“It feeds the perception the system is rotten.”
If Fumo is acquitted, “in some ways it’s worse” in taxpayers’ minds, Treadway said.
“They’ve heard months of accusations — devastating illegalities and irregularities alleged — and if he is able to beat it three times, the average citizen will wonder, ‘If you can’t beat a guy as big as Vince Fumo, what’s the point of taking anybody to court?’ ” he said.
FUMO has to be convicted or the entire court system is a farce.
Why was Ed Rendell ready to endorse this guy for re-election after he was indicted is another question I would like answered?
