From the Chronicle:
Republican members of the state House of Representatives say a law requiring a two-thirds vote for all tax increases should be applied to the removal of tax incentives as well.
If validated, the maneuver by Republicans could make it difficult for Democrats to pass a bill aimed at halting millions of dollars in annual tax credits provided to the TransAlta Steam-Electric Plant, as well as the state’s five oil refiners.
Republican House Floor Leader Doug Ericksen, R-Ferndale, cited Initiative 960 when asking for a ruling on the issue on the House floor Tuesday. Speaker Pro Tempore Jeff Morris declined to rule, but Ericksen said that House Republicans are “willing to go to war” if they are denied the ruling they’re looking for.
