From Cincinnati.com:
The fight over who will control federal stimulus dollars escalated Thursday, with Republican member of Congress – who voted against the stimulus – telling Ohio’s Democratic governor how to monitor its spending.
Led by top House Republican Rep. John Boehner of West Chester Township, eight Ohio Republicans urged Gov. Ted Strickland to appoint an independent, bipartisan board to oversee the $8.3 billion promised to Ohio.
The money is coming from the recently passed $787 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Strickland said he plans to use existing state agencies, boards and commissions to distribute most of the money, with legislative approval.
