He is also the son of U.S. District Court Judge Tim Leonard and the son-in-law of former Gov. Frank Keating.
Ryan’s dad also served as the Republican leader in the state Senator, made a run for the lieutenant governor’s seat, and served as a U.S. attorney for the western district of Oklahoma as well.
I first met Ryan in February 2001 when I had the opportunity to travel to south Texas and hunt blue quail and deer with him, Dan Boren, Larry Smith and Phil Neill. Neill is from Seminole, Smith resides in Shawnee but works for the Seminole State College Foundation and Boren has since been elected to Congress, currently in his third term.
Later that same year I played golf with him, his dad, former Gov. Keating, Edmondson, Seminole State College President Dr. Jim Utterback, the now Congressman Boren and former State Rep. Bob Weaver.
