From Huron Daily Tribune:
When his representative called a couple weeks ago and asked for an editorial board meeting, speculation in the newsroom was Cox wanted to drum up grassroots support for a possible run for governor in 2010. The Republican formed an exploratory committee in November and filed paperwork with the secretary of state’s office.
But, when Cox arrived right after deadline on Wednesday morning, promoting himself was not on the agenda. Instead, he wanted to talk about —drum roll, please— transparency in government!
During his tenure as Michigan Attorney General, Cox has diligently worked to increase the public’s ability to get information. He is open about the workings of his own office, frequently issuing press releases to let the public and the media know what he and his staff are doing.
