From The Charleston Gazette:
As the economic recession finally hits West Virginia, Republicans in the state Legislature are accusing majority Democrats of sitting on their hands while jobs disappear.
It’s the first real sign of partisan rancor in a legislative session that has so far been relatively placid, with both chambers and Gov. Joe Manchin largely devoted to the governor’s budget, which has needed revisions since initially projecting a modest surplus.
But Republicans, who are badly outnumbered in both the Senate and House of Delegates, can do little more than complain as Democrats move ahead with measures they say are aimed at counteracting the grim economic news.
