From The Hartford Courant:
The way Sam S.F. Caligiuri sees it, the 2010 U.S. Senate election is about a young upstart with solid values and an outsider’s mind-set trying to take on a tired and politically compromised insider who has lost touch with Connecticut residents.
“I think I can bring a fresh face and a fresh perspective … to Washington,” said Caligiuri, a state senator and former acting mayor of Waterbury. Flanked by his wife, Lori, and their two young children, he stood in front of his house Tuesday morning and announced his bid for U.S. Senate to a gathering of about 50 supporters and reporters.
The son of immigrants, Caligiuri, 42, made clear his strategy as he repeatedly touted his outside-the-beltway credentials.
