Minnesota:
On Thursday, Minnesota Attorney General Lori Swanson sued a different cell phone company, Sprint Nextel, for the same practice, which Swanson maintains violates the state’s consumer fraud and deceptive trade practices act.
The Minnesota lawsuit had no effect on Verizon’s making this major change in its policy, said Verizon spokesman Tom Pica.
“We’ve been working on this a long time,” he said. “This is something customers seem to want.”
