Jon Husted’s presence in this race will no doubt get Ohio Democrats very worked up. What’s more, we predict the race for this office will attract truck loads of money from various out of state Democrat and Progressive (the really liberal Democrats) groups. Stay very tuned. From Chillicothe:
State Sen. Jon Husted says he wants the job of Ohio’s top elections official so he can eliminate the need for it.
The 41-year-old Republican from the Dayton area plans to announce Thursday that he’ll run for Ohio secretary of state in 2010. But Husted tells the Dayton Daily News that his eventual goal is to replace the state’s current election oversight with a bipartisan, seven-member panel.
Incumbent Democratic Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner has already launched a campaign for the U.S. Senate in 2010.
