Teens who send nude pictures of themselves to underage friends should not face criminal charges or be subject to years of sexual offender registrations.
That’s the message that was sent to state lawmakers and county prosecutors Thursday in letters from the American Civil Liberties Union of Ohio, in response to a growing national issue over “sexting.”
The phrase combines the words “sex” and “texting” and refers to potentially prurient messages and images sent over electronic devices, like cellular phones or laptop computers.
