It’s a painfully old joke, but it’s a good enough headline
for this bit.
Florida Attorney General Charlie
Crist has what appears to be solid lead in Septembers GOP Gubernatorial
primary. He leads Chief Financial
Officer Tom Gallagher in the latest Mason-Dixon survey of Florida
Republican primary voters.
The latest Mason-Dixon Florida Poll,
released Monday, shows that likely Republican voters favor Attorney General
Charlie Crist over Gallagher 55 percent to 24 percent, a 31-point lead that has
nearly doubled since March, according to Brad Coker, the polling firm's
managing director.
It’s been a tough race for Gallagher and the numbers are really
starting to bear it out. This MD survey shows that General Crist has
further solidified the lead he had back on March 28th
where he lead 43%-37%.
The Democrat primary for Governor is still way up in the air.
While 52% of Dem voters are undecided, the 9/5 gets closer and closer each
day.
The numbers suggest that either
Democrat will face an uphill battle should Crist win the Republican nomination,
Coker said. Smith or Davis will be forced to spend valuable time and money
winning name recognition.
"The Democratic nominee is
going to spend a good part of September and October going through that whole
process before he can turn his guns on Crist," Coker said. "Crist
should come out of the primary relatively unscathed."
