Former Michigan governor John Engler said Wednesday that after several years of tough economic times under Democratic Gov. Jennifer Granholm, he sees no way that the Republicans can lose the 2010 gubernatorial election.
“I think the Democrats can’t win the governorship in 2010. I don’t see any case to be made that there should be one more minute of what we’ve had in the last eight years,” Engler said following a rare political speech in his home state.
Engler addressed 500 fellow Republicans in Shelby Township at the annual Macomb County Lincoln Dinner, the local GOP’s top fundraising event of the year.
