With money being the main topic of this legislative session, the chairmen of the committees that handle it will likely be the focus of attention.
“That’s where the action’s going to happen,” said Pearson Cross, head of the Political Science Department at the UL. “Look for the power people to deliver.”
But Cross and other political watchers say some other lawmakers are likely to capture some of the spotlight in the session, which begins today.
Speaker of the House Jim Tucker, R-Terrytown, not only directs the action in the House but has introduced controversial legislation calling for a study of whether the state has too many universities and whether some should be closed or consolidated.
