From THonline.com:
After years of legal wrangling, a high court decision, protests, rallies and court furloughs, the day for same-sex couples to marry in Iowa is here.
Monday, following a court order, county recorders across the state can begin issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples.
Whether those couples will be able to get married on Monday or have to wait for three days is up to district court judges in each of the counties. Iowa law requires a three-day waiting period prior to a marriage license becoming valid, but a judge can waive that requirement.
