From KnoxNews:
The state House joined the Senate in voting to make texting while driving a specific crime in Tennessee, which supporters say is needed to discourage a practice that has already led to at least one fatality in the state.
The House vote was 68-24. SB393 was approved earlier by the Senate on a 23-6 vote, but must now return to the Senate for concurrence on a House amendment that exempts law-enforcement officers and emergency medical personnel from being ticketed.
