From The Salt Lake Tribune:
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff will appear on a national news program — in South Africa.
Producer Eugene Botha and a reporter from “Carte Blanche,” the South African equivalent of CBS’s “60 Minutes,” interviewed Shurtleff for an hour this week about polygamy.
It seems the newly elected South African President Jacob Zuma has four wives, but for cultural rather than religious reasons.
“Evidently it’s illegal there to practice polygamy for religious reasons,” Shurtleff said. “They wanted to know how we deal with it here.”
Shurtleff told them the practice violates the Constitution, but his main focus as the state’s top attorney is to prosecute crimes against children.
