Oh, we suppose we’ll add this district to our “Wouldn’t it be funny if this guy ran for re-election” list. With a resume like this: firefighter, EMT, Cub Scoutmaster, and assistant football coach – Rep. Burt would’ve been tough to beat. Not any more. Get some more details from when this story first broke. A state legislator has been laid off as a Waterloo firefighter because of a drunken driving charge.
City Human Resources Director Bob Stringer said Rep. Kerry Burt was laid off after his Feb. 11 arrest in Ankeny because he lost his license. The city requires all firefighters to have a valid driver’s license.
Burt has pleaded not guilty. A court date is expected in June.
