It is amazing what a healthy dose of commonsense can bring to a legislative chamber. If the Oklahoma House and Senate were still in Democrat control – no legitimate reform would have come through this session. From Tulsa World:
A lawsuit reform measure billed as a historic compromise passed both chambers of the state Legislature on Thursday.
House Bill 1603 was approved in the House by a vote of 86-13 and in the Senate by a vote of 42-5. It now heads to Gov. Brad Henry, who is expected to take final action next week.
“Gov. Henry must still review the final version of the bill before he passes judgment, but based on his initial reading of it, he believes it is a strong and comprehensive reform measure,” said Paul Sund, a spokesman for the governor.
