PA Republicans Oppose Governors Tax Hike

From Courier Express:

Gov. Ed Rendell’s proposal to raise the state’s personal income tax to help offset a $3.2 billion budget shortfall met with opposition from Lt. Gov. and state Senate President Pro Tempore Joe Scarnati, R-Brockway, and House Minority Leader Sam Smith, R-Punxsutawney.

Today, I received two phone calls. Both were the county service. I was told that the Air-ride program that transports my autitic child to the clinical program he requires for emotional and social support has been forced to close. No service, no program. The office closes for thirty to forty-five days. I have no drivers lisence due to my physical disability. All the drivers have been laid off. No cars on the road. I asked what I should do to get my son to these appointments. I was told to go to county assistance, they have a program. But my daughter works for a different county in their welfare office. They received 70% of their last two checks and paid federal and state taxes for 100% of their checks. Now they are working without pay. They will get their money in six months or so and not in lump sum as it was taken. It will dwindle in. Now I am suppose to go to those who are not paid to get services because there has been no support for the program that transported my son in the first place. This is not just about the parks. Lives are being pushed around for the sake of this mess of a budget.
