From DelawareOnline:
House Republicans, contending their voices are not being heard in the debate about spending cuts and tax increases, shot down key bills to raise taxes and fees on alcohol, tobacco and alcohol licenses Thursday night.
Voting along party lines, the House rejected the three bills proposed by Gov. Jack Markell to raise about $20 million next year.
Although the GOP is in the minority, revenue bills require a three-fifths majority to pass — and the Democrats are one vote shy of that majority.
The Republicans held firm, and the bills were defeated.
