From DesMoinesRegister:
State Rep. Christopher Rants announced Friday plans to seek the 2010 Republican nomination for governor, promising an aggressive battle for younger voters and saying his own political setback had humbled him.
“If we’re going to win back the youth vote, we have to talk to them in a mode that they are paying attention to,” Rants, of Sioux City, said Friday after the taping of “Iowa Press” on Iowa Public Television.
Earlier on Friday, the veteran legislator and former House leader had posted the news on Twitter and his personal Web site that he was filing papers to begin raising and spending money in anticipation of a 2010 bid.
Rants joins fellow Sioux City Republican Bob Vander Plaats in having taken the step.
