From SunSentinel.com:
Hang on, Broward and Palm Beach county voters. One of the most contentious and expensive political battles of the 2010 election season has already started. Currently a focus of state and local political insiders, it will end up filling your TV screens, mailboxes and e-mail accounts.
The prize — a seat in the Florida Senate — is so sweet that three state representatives and a wealthy business consultant have already entered the race even though the deadline isn’t for another 11 months.
The District 25 race is at the top of top-tier Florida Senate contests, said state Sen. Nan Rich, D-Weston, who becomes leader of Senate Democrats after the 2010 elections. That means she’s in charge of raising money and recruiting candidates in an attempt to maximize her party’s strength.
Both the Republicans and Democrats are preparing major campaigns for the seat because it could go either way.
