From DelawareOnline:
The Democratic candidate who dropped out of the special election race for the late Thurman Adams’ Senate seat said today he quit because of insufficient support from some corners of the party.
Eddy Parker, a Bridgeville resident and Sussex County’s director of assessment, wouldn’t mention names, but flatly denied rumors that state party leaders pressured him to step aside in favor of Polly Mervine, Adams’ daughter.
His abrupt departure from the race has angered some Democrats, raising the question of whether the party can unify behind a new candidate.
“I have some real upset committee people right now,” said county party chairman Pat Ewing.
