From thetimes-tribune.com:
State Sen. Robert Mellow is in the crosshairs of legislative reform activists after revelations this week that for seven years he rented his taxpayer-funded district office in Peckville from a company partly owned by his wife and later himself.
Starting in 2001, the Senate’s top Democrat directed more than $200,000 in state-funded rent payments for his office at 524 Main St., Peckville, to a company co-owned by his then-wife, Diane Mellow. Mr. Mellow obtained her 50 percent ownership stake following the couple’s divorce in 2007.
From 1990 to 2001, Mr. Mellow also had rented the same space from a man who worked for him as a longtime aide.
Reacting to the disclosure, a state House official said Tuesday such rental arrangements would not be tolerated for state representatives, and an activist fired a broad salvo asking several agencies to investigate the matter.
