Republicans took over the Oklahoma House of Representative in 2004 rolling up a 57 – 44 seat majority over the Democrats. This year, Oklahoma Senate Republicans are poised to take over the Oklahoma Senate.
The numbers work in Republicans favor.
Courtesy of term limits, 7 Democrat seats in Republican trending Oklahoma are open. No Republican seats are open to term limits, and only one very Republican seat is open this year. The Democrat advantage is a whisker thin 25-23 over Republicans. Put another way, Republicans can tie the chamber winning just 1 of the open 7 seats, and take control of the senate by winning 2 seats.
Keep an eye on Oklahoma – Republicans can solidify control of the state legislature this year.
