South Carolina Attorney General Henry McMaster has made his first formal public move in his bid for the GOP nomination for governor.
McMaster filed a campaign disclosure form Monday with the South Carolina Ethics Commission that indicates he is running for governor.
The report shows McMaster opening his campaign with $650. But he’s been working for months to raise money through his attorney general re-election campaign.
In July, McMaster reported he has $1.1 million in that re-election account.
McMaster can convert donations from one campaign to another if he gets permission from donors. McMaster began seeking permission last month.
