From Cleveland.com:
Whoever wins the job owns a seat on Ohio’s Apportionment Board, along with Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland and GOP State Auditor Mary Taylor. Two other members, one per party as picked by legislative leaders, cancel each other out.
Republicans in the hunt to become the next secretary of state are state Sen. Jon Husted of suburban Dayton and former Ashtabula County Auditor Sandra O’Brien.
Husted, formerly speaker of the Ohio House, has by far the stronger pedigree; O’Brien, however, is likely to be seen as more conservative, and that can be important in Ohio GOP primaries.
