From CourierPostOnline.com:
A second Democratic state lawmaker from North Jersey has been charged with misconduct, leaving the state’s two 31st District Assembly seats filled by indicted politicians — a first even for a state where news of public corruption has become commonplace.
Assemblyman Anthony Chiappone, 51, of Bayonne and his wife Diane, 54, are accused of taking more than $8,000 from state paychecks for legislative aides and moving the money into campaign and personal accounts.
A grand jury has charged them with official misconduct, theft, and a host of campaign finance law violations for failing to report the money they allegedly funneled into Chiappone’s campaign account.
